What is the Sibling Support Initiative?
The Sibling Support Initiative is a statewide effort led by Ohio SIBS to connect, educate, and empower siblings of individuals with disabilities. Through sibling mentor training and collaborative partnerships with County Boards, the initiative creates meaningful opportunities for siblings to learn, share, and prepare for the roles they play in the lives of their brothers and sisters. By working with local partners, we ensure that young siblings have access to the support, tools, and connections they need—today and into the future.
County boards subscribe to our Sibling Support Initiative where we offer our Sibling Mentor Training to learn about the sibling perspective and how to connect with sibling groups to better prepare them for life as a Sib.
The Sibling Mentor Training provides:
• Understand the sibling perspective and describe the unique impact of disability on families.
• Describe the importance of the sibling role and provide parents with age-appropriate information and resources.

Sibling Support Initiative Membership
Trial of our Sibling Mentorship program. The program officially begins in January 2026.
Beginning in 2026, we’re introducing annual membership fees that help grow and sustain a vibrant sibling community across Ohio. This contribution directly supports statewide sibling initiatives and ensures continued access to enriching programs like sibling camps for your child and others. By joining, you’re not only investing in families — you’re helping build a stronger network for all siblings.
