As you grow, so does your role—let’s navigate it together so you don’t have to go through it alone.

Teen PhotoVoice

Teen PhotoVoice was created just for teens who have a brother or sister with a disability! Over three fun, interactive 60-minute sessions, you’ll learn basic photography skills, explore your own story and sibling relationship, connect with other teens who understand your experiences, and discover how to use your voice to make a difference in your community.

Teens can participate on their own or invite their sibling with a disability to join them, creating a shared experience through photography, creativity, and meaningful conversations.

Siblings need to be able to have access and use a camera (camera phones will work) and a computer.

Join us for our next 3 part series:

  • July 28th at 1pm-2pm

  • August 4th at 1pm-2pm

  • TBD

Teen PhotoVoice Just for SIBS

No one sees the world like you do - Your perspective matters!

Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities participates in our first pilot of Teen PhotoVoice!

What is PhotoVoice? It is more than just taking pictures — it’s telling your story without needing to say a word. You will use a camera (or your phone!) to capture moments from your life that show:

  • What it’s like being a sibling of someone with a disability

  • How your community includes (or doesn’t include) people with disabilities

  • How you see the world — and how you want the world to see your story

Then, we bring those powerful photos together to raise awareness, start conversations, and maybe even change minds.

Thank you to Ross County Board of DD and Sibling mentors Kara Brown & Kristen Smith for piloting our Teen PhotoVoice program. Also to the Ohio State University LEND Program for providing the research and developing a program model for Teen SIBS.

Use your Voice…

I took picture of me hidden behind some willow leaves, him shining so bright makes me feel a little bit invisible sometimes.

Promote Inclusion..

I photographed a picture of my brother using a camera that my parents bought him - because he saw me taking pictures, he naturally wanted to take some too.
